In relation to this last point, SCORM are also different since they allow <strong>interaction<\/strong>: users can click, move elements, answer questions and also navigate through resources in a non-linear way, always staying within the same learning object. Last, but not least, SCORM allows <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.quiddis.com\/en\/adaptive-learning-training-tailored-to-you\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>adaptive learning<\/strong><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, namely the possibility to build different learning paths according to <strong>choices<\/strong> made by users or <strong>test results<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ASYNCHRONOUS_CONTENTS_IN_BLENDED_TRAINING\"><\/span><b>ASYNCHRONOUS CONTENTS IN BLENDED TRAINING<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once we have clear knowledge of the <strong>benefits<\/strong> of SCORM from a <strong>functional<\/strong> point of view, it is important to understand how this type of content <strong>can be useful<\/strong> to build <strong>blended programs<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s start saying that <strong>blended<\/strong> requires a combination of <strong>synchronous and asynchronous<\/strong> training, where synchronous can be represented by any kind of <strong>live training<\/strong>, both <strong>online or in class<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other side of blended, then, there are contents to be studied in <strong>self-paced mode<\/strong>, which can be more or less <strong>interactive and engaging<\/strong>: presentations, PDFs, video and finally SCORMs. Each type of <strong>asynchronous<\/strong> learning content has its own <strong>characteristics<\/strong>, but they all share the possibility to be <strong>accessed remotely<\/strong> by students through personal devices.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"THE_ADVANTAGES_OF_SCORM\"><\/span><b>THE ADVANTAGES OF SCORM<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Why should you choose <strong>SCORM<\/strong> for <strong>blended programs<\/strong>, if it seems to be the less immediate one among <strong>asynchronous<\/strong> contents? Of course the choice, despite being <strong>more expensive<\/strong> in terms of <strong>setting time<\/strong> and required <strong>financial resources<\/strong>, has some <strong>advantages<\/strong> not found in the alternatives.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Firstly, as already mentioned, SCORM contents allow to have a certain amount of <strong>interaction<\/strong>: requiring the <strong>completion of actions<\/strong>, then, helps to <strong>increase<\/strong> <strong>engagement and motivation<\/strong>, since the user feels to be <strong>directly involved<\/strong> in the training process, despite being actually alone. When designing the content, in fact, it is possible to use different <strong>instructional strategies<\/strong> to improve <strong>effectiveness<\/strong>, like <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.quiddis.com\/en\/microlearning-scorm-compliant-elearning-content\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>micro-learning<\/strong><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> or <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.quiddis.com\/en\/10-ways-to-use-gamification-in-elearning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>gamification<\/strong><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, selected based on the <strong>target of reference<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition to that, SCORM allows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.quiddis.com\/en\/what-is-distance-tracking\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>tracking progress and results<\/strong><\/a> reached by students, somehow <strong>filling the gap<\/strong> between teacher and student and allowing, on the contrary, to <strong>collect valuable information<\/strong> to organize training.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Eventually, SCORM has two essential advantages related to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.quiddis.com\/en\/what-is-the-scorm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>interoperability <\/strong><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <strong>maintenance<\/strong>. The first one refers to the possibility to use contents <strong>in different courses and on different platforms<\/strong>, since it is a standard format recognized by most <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.quiddis.com\/en\/admin-teacher-and-student-roles-and-functionalities-in-lms-platforms\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>LMSs<\/strong><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The second refers to the <strong>modular structure<\/strong>, that makes it a lot easier to <strong>modify single elements<\/strong> or a portion of the lesson, without affecting the rest of the content. This aspect in particular makes <strong>investments<\/strong> <strong>valuable in the long run<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"HOW_AND_WHEN_TO_USE_SCORM_IN_BLENDED_TRAINING\"><\/span><b>HOW AND WHEN TO USE SCORM IN BLENDED TRAINING<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Knowing all their <strong>advantages<\/strong>, let\u2019s see when and how it <strong>can be useful<\/strong> to use this type of content within a blended training program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thanks in particular to the <\/span><strong>distance tracking<\/strong><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> feature and <strong>adaptive<\/strong> paths, SCORM lessons can be very <strong>effective <\/strong>in blended training programs, <strong>before the in-class phase<\/strong>, to do <strong>pre-assessments<\/strong> and give <strong>useful resources<\/strong> to students: this allows everyone to reach the <strong>prerequisites<\/strong> required for the course, according to <strong>specific needs<\/strong>. At the same time, this allows teachers to <strong>collect insight into the class<\/strong>, with everyone\u2019s<strong> strengths and weaknesses<\/strong>, even before <strong>meeting<\/strong> them, being able to <strong>organize synchronous sessions<\/strong> in a more <strong>efficient and effective<\/strong> way.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>After the in-class session<\/strong>, it can be helpful to give students access to <strong>recordings<\/strong> (of webinars or face-to-face lessons), to make them available in the future: to do so, <strong>rebuilding the video into a SCORM<\/strong> can help students to have easy <strong>access<\/strong> to the <strong>needed part of content<\/strong>, always in a <strong>trackable<\/strong> <strong>and controlled<\/strong> way. In addition, SCORM can be useful as <strong>further resources<\/strong> to <strong>deepen<\/strong> the topic treated in the course, available to students to continue the training program autonomously.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the <strong>spread of blended learning<\/strong> it becomes essential to know all the <strong>tools<\/strong> available both for <strong>asynchronous and synchronous<\/strong> training, and how they could be used. In particular, <strong>SCORM<\/strong> contents seem to be <strong>unknown<\/strong> by many people, despite being the <strong>most effective for self-paced learning<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Do you want to know more about blended learning?
