WHEN WE GO BACK TO NORMAL, IT WILL BE A NEW NORMAL<\/a><\/li><\/ul><\/nav><\/div>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"1_YOU_CANNOT_IMPROVISE_AS_A_SMART_WORKER\"><\/span><b>1. YOU CANNOT IMPROVISE AS A SMART WORKER<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Data regarding the <\/span><b>spread of smart working <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in 2020, even if still in progress, show clearly how the phenomenon has <\/span><b>increased dramatically<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. According to<\/span><b> ISTAT <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(the Italian national institute of statistics), employees working remotely in Italian companies had already grown from 1,2% in February to 8,8% in April, even if with many differences among the various <\/span><b>types of organizations<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: 90% of employees in <\/span><b>big companies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, 73% in <\/span><b>medium <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ones, 37% in <\/span><b>small <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ones and 18% in <\/span><b>micro <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">ones.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The <\/span><b>healthcare emergency <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has of course sped up the process, <\/span><b>growing <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the number of organizations that adopted <\/span><b>smart working<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from 15% of 2019 to <\/span><b>77%<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the last year. However, this is also the reason why this way of working has often been adopted <\/span><b>without the needed infrastructures and the training<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, weakening its <\/span><b>effectiveness <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and, as a consequence, its <\/span><b>approval rating<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The first thing that 2020 has taught us, and that we should bring with us into 2021, is that <\/span><b>smart working cannot be improvised<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and, if you decide to adopt ii <\/span><b>long term<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">it can be worth it to entrust <\/span><b>professionals to ease the transition<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for employees.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_SMART_WORKING_IS_NOT_REMOTE_WORKING\"><\/span><b>2. SMART WORKING IS NOT REMOTE WORKING<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Despite the confusion created during last year, at this point it seems to be clear to everyone the difference between <\/span><b>smart working <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>remote working<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Quoting an <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">old article on this blog<\/span><b>, remote working<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a simple <\/span><b>change of place <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">compared to the traditional office work, while <\/span><b>smart working <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">is based on <\/span><b>working goals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, without taking into account preset time and place.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is of course a wider change in the <\/span><b>way we think and manage work<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which also implies a transformation in the way we see relations, both between supervisors and employees and between peers. <\/span><b>Trust <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>responsibility <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">become key-skills to make any collaboration effective, together with <\/span><b>communication <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>time management<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Once again, then, it is clear that <\/span><b>we need new competences<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, to develop within organizations or to require from the <\/span><b>new professionals<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, to make the \u201csmart\u201d project successful.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"3_SMART_WORKING_IS_AN_ASSET\"><\/span><b>3. SMART WORKING IS AN ASSET\u00a0<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the same note, the past year has helped to enlighten all the <\/span><b>benefits of smart working <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">both for companies and employees.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">From the enterprises point of view, smart working proved to be valuable to optimize <\/span><b>economic resources and time<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: reducing commuting and moving meetings and activities online, in fact, allowed to <\/span><b>make work more efficient<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, cutting downtime and costs related to employees\u2019 transport, room and board. This was true for <\/span><b>big companies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which were often forced to move people from one headquarter to another, even internationally, but also <\/span><b>SME <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><b>smaller companies<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which travelled to see clients or attend training and marketing events.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Talking about <\/span><b>employees<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, smart working seems to allow <\/span><b>work <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to be <\/span><b>more adaptive<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, better dovetailing with <\/span><b>daily life tasks<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">even keeping the same <\/span><b>efficiency<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> levels. One can work with a <\/span><b>goal to reach<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, cutting once again downtime and <\/span><b>making working hours more valuable<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Last but not least, smart working has shown its <\/span><b>environmental benefits<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: a more <\/span><b>ecological choice<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which can <\/span><b>reduce the polluting impact<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of companies and make their work <\/span><b>more eco-friendly<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"4_ELEARNING_IS_THE_FUTURE_OF_TRAINING\"><\/span><b>4. ELEARNING IS THE FUTURE OF TRAINING<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Closely connected to smart working, <\/span><b>corporate training <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">seems to be another area that has been <\/span><b>strongly affected<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by the recent changes. The growth of <\/span><b>Zoom\u2019s daily users<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from 10 to <\/span><b>200 millions <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">in April and the <\/span><b>100% increase<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in<\/span><b> online courses searches on Google<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in the same period are two examples that show how, without any doubt, <\/span><b>2020 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has been <\/span><b>the year of eLearning<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To be true, <\/span><b>digital training <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">has often been adopted in <\/span><b>emergency mode<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, using <\/span><b>temporary webinars <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that were not part of a<\/span><b> long-term training project<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. This phenomenon on one side led to an <\/span><b>exponential growth of online platforms<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, on the other has contributed to spread <\/span><b>dissatisfaction<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, often related to <\/span><b>prejudices and lack of experience, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">both among teachers and learners.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Something that we need to bring with us from 2020 into 2021, then, is that <\/span><b>digital training <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">requires &#8211; just like smart working &#8211; <\/span><b>specific dynamics and competences<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which need to be acquired and developed to <\/span><b>take the most of it<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In any case, we cannot think we will go <\/span><b>back <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">to <\/span><b>totally face-to-face training<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: it is way more likely, and maybe <\/span><b>desirable<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, that training in the future will be <\/span><b>blended<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with <\/span><b>digital and in-classroom <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">used together in the most right moments and with the most suitable objectives.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"5_WHEN_WE_GO_BACK_TO_NORMAL_IT_WILL_BE_A_NEW_NORMAL\"><\/span><b>5. WHEN WE GO BACK TO NORMAL, IT WILL BE A <\/b><b><i>NEW <\/i><\/b><b>NORMAL<\/b><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The past year has ended with a hope for everyone: <\/span><b>normal<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. But what does \u201cnormal\u201d mean nowadays? As we have already said, it will hardly mean <\/span><b>going back to February 2020<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: some changes, despite being forced, have shown that <\/span><b>another way of working is not only possible<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but maybe <\/span><b>more efficient <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">than what we used to do.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Therefore, the last and more important of 2020\u2019s lessons is that in the near future we will go out of this emergency state, but the<\/span> <b>new normal<\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">will be nowhere near close to what we have left behind.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We as <\/span><b>Quiddis Team <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">have tried to exploit these past months to think about a <\/span><b>new way to do training<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">: a user-friendly <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.quiddis.com\/en\/elearning-services\/join-lms-platform\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>LMS platform<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, with an <\/span><b>integrated webinar system<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for synchronous and asynchronous learning, accessible through <\/span><b>mobile app <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.quiddis.com\/en\/elearning-services\/scorm-elearning-content\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>interactive and engaging content<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, designed basing on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.quiddis.com\/en\/elearning-services\/blended-training-instructional-design\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>blended learning <\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">principles.
